thankyou for putting p with my nonsense these 2 years, but hey ! i hope you guys continue doing that okay (: i want you guys to forever remember me as the immaature and crazy siao kia you guys know.
although we all dont know whether which class we would be going next year, we all know its impossible that 2G would ever be the same again.
Remember this year, in the beginning, when skyc wanted us to not change class in year three, i was like HUH ): i wanna change class ! but now, i seriously really please dont wanna leave my dears. i love every single person in our class. i dun wan to leave at all please, if i had a choice, i would be hfreaking happy we would be able to stay in the same class. you know how much difference it would make ? we all know how much we dont want to leave hahah.

I will never forget the time we had spent together as 34 looose cannons, one united class <3 remember 2G forever kay ! :D

2) Parents are allowed in - however, that does not mean that we invite them personally. They could sit in if they request to do so. Please advise them to sit at the back/ side of the room.
3) Choosing of stories - please be mindful of selecting stories. Do make sure that the stories do not promote any religious beliefs/values.

FAQ on Storytelling by Friends of the Library 2009

1) How many hours are we suppose to do?
The storytelling programme is for 30 minutes. You will be awarded with 3 volunteering hours (this is inclusive of preparation time and the programme time in the library). So the more slots you do, the more hours will be credited.

2) What are we suppose to do?
Basically, the programme is for 30 minutes. All you need to do is to tell stories and get them to engage in your stories all within the half hour. Making sure that they listen to your stories and are well behave, etc. You need to be in the Library at least 45 minutes to half an hour before the programme starts. Besides telling stories, please put up a simple book display at one corner of the activity/storytelling room. You could display about 30 to 40 books and align them on the table or along the wall of the room.

3) How much are we suppose to prepare?
As a group, you have to find appropriate stories to share. It is best for you to look for suitable stories, which you enjoy and would like to share with the children. Do make sure that the stories are not heavily promoting sensitive content (e.g. religious, cultural/ethnic issues etc).

4) Can we do more than 1 library and slots?
Yes, you can as long as the session does not clash with other sessions that you are interested in.

5) My friend is not a Friend of the Library. Can he/she join me in this programme?
It is advisable that all volunteers sign-up as a Friend of the Library. Once you have an account with us, any volunteering duties that you have contributed in the library would be uploaded online. You could retrieve and print your Service Record of all your volunteering hours online. Once you have signed up, it would be easier for us to upload your hours without any disruption. All volunteering hours would be uploaded by the end of the month.

6) -
The session is 30 minutes long and 25 to 30 children between the ages of 4 to 8 years would be
attending it. During the session you have to tell stories, room control management, children behaviour management etc. The children could be handful to handle and it would be useful to have few pairs of hands to help around. Also, the other group member could help to take care of latecomers to settle in quietly.

7) Are parents of the children allowed to be in the session?
Parents are allowed to be in the room during the storytelling session. However, it is not necessary to invite them to join and sit in the room. They could sit in if they requested. Due to space constraint of the room, please advise the parents to sit at the back/side of the room. Also advise them not to enter or exit from the room unnecessarily. We would like to keep the ambience and experience of the storytelling session undisruptive. This policy has been practised across all the libraries for both Librarians and regular volunteer storytellers.

8) Can we lock the door during the session?
Locking of door during the storytelling session is not allowed. Parents/guardians of the children might question such act and might feel uncomfortable of letting their children/ward to participate in the storytelling session.

9) What should I be wearing (Dress Code of FOL)?
As Friends of the Library, please dress presentably in neat and clean attire at all times.
Please wear:
- Covered shoes including sneaker, school
shoes and moccasins
- Full-length jeans and t-shirts without
offensive messages
- School uniforms if you are coming after
school
- Friend of the Library t-shirt
- Do remember to bring along a jacket, as
the library can get very cold

Please do not wear
- Sleeveless t-shirts or blouses
- Bermudas, Capri pants, mini skirts and
shorts
- Sandals, slippers, open toed/high heel
shoes

11) Who should I call/contact on issues concerning the storytelling sessions?
You may call the officer-in-charge, Ms Noorazizah at 6332 3255 or 9695 2774. Alternatively, you also could contact Ms Haslina or Ms Serenne Teng at 6332 3255, email: volunteer@nlb.gov.sg.

Everyone, i'm helping Cindy to say something to the class. As you lao shi is leaving, Cindy is thinking of giving you lao shi a card or gift on next Friday. We got 2 options,
1) First option is to divide the cost of the gift or the card among the class, OR
2) Second option, people do no want to pay anything, their name will not be writen on the gift or card, only people who pay will have their name writen on the gift or card.
Most likely, it will be option 2. Cindy will need the answer by this Friday or else we will be choosing option 2.
Cindy will buy the gift or card by next Monday or Tuesday and then those who pay her will only have their name writen.

Ohyeah, we will be doing story-telling in the libraries. The class will be split into groups, around 5-6 people per group.
HAHA and ur are allowed to form ur own groups. But there must be a mixture of guys&girls. (Ms Lim's order.)
Nobody is to be left out and there must be one leader and each group.
If anybody is left out, i will just allocate them to any group. (:
Pls send ur groupings to me by mon. THANKS.

You guys must also signup @ http://vms.nlb.gov.sg
you must fill in all your particulars, and get it done by the end of August. You will not be awarded CIP points if you don't signup, even if u've completed the CIP work.

The location of libraries for each group will be given after comfimation.
(after ur signup @ the website, and i've given the groups to her.)
FYI, the CIP work will be executed on weekends, and it takes about 30mins or so. But you have to reach 45mins earlier for preparation.

We're unable to do the CIP work as a class as the library is not big enough for 34 students, and the activity is only catered for 5-6 people.
I will update your further, but firstly, your MUST signup first.

Yupps, probably u will think tat is good. But its vice-versal!
This means tat u will have to depend on urself to gain the CIP points!
The total weight of the newspaper is divided among the whole class.
But because ur did not donate enough, we don't even have 1 CIP hour for it!
Its pathetic u noe?!
Cux i think other classes have a few hours for the newspaper recycling.

The can tabs collection is individual. It will NOT be shared among the class.
So people with 0 CIP points, or not up to 6hours yet, u better start collecting NOW cause u only have one more chance. There is one more date for the can tabs collection which is on the 3rd september. Hours distribution is in the early posts.

If u guys don't have 6 hours of CIP, its not only we, the CIP raps tat will be held responsible, but also u, tat will not get promoted to the next lvl! So by next year, everybody will be in 2G while those without 6 hours of CIP will still remain in 1G!
Is it worth it retaining for another year just because of not having enough CIP hours?

If u really don't bother about CIP, so be it. u will have to suffer later.

Hey everyone, this is my 1st post... Hahas. OK, i just want to tell u all that if u want to solve the tag-box problem, i think that we need to change a tag-box that is not from Cbox cos i think that u cannot delete the tags in it. So, i think i'll be putting up a new tag box in a few weeks time as i cant sign up for a new tag box as the number of registrations has reached 7500. So we must wait, and btw, the new tag box will look something like my tag box in my blog which can delete post, block users and much more...

1G has been so hated by idon'tknowwho. Seriously...I mean, the WHOLE 1G blog is
spammed with "1G sux". Are we that bad? Hello??? We LOST the inter-class. How

happened because of the inter-class, I really really want time to go back...back

There is a food raising event by 3C. (yeahh..ramie's class)
We have to bring the following products:

Milo (tin / packet) -- 5-6 pkts/tins
Noodles (vermicelli etc) -- 5-6 pkts
Biscuits -- 7-8 pkts
Canned fruits -- 6-7 cans
Canned meat -- 6-7 cans
Canned vegetables -- 6-7 cans
Peanuts -- 5-6 pkts
Miscellaneous food --5-6 bottles
(eg. butter, jam, peanut butter, bottle honey)

ITS A MUST OKAYY. cux its a recommended quantity per class.
Dates of collection will be from 30th march to 9 april.
I will put up the copy of the paper on the noticeboard. so tat ur can go and see ^^
